Eating on a Budget in Florence: Where I Ate Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
I’m so happy I had the opportunity to visit Florence a second time. It’s an incredibly beautiful city, and of course, it offers fantastic Italian food.
Since I was traveling on a budget, I had to be intentional about where I ate each meal. So, my travel buddy and I searched the web for cheap eats, but we made sure to read reviews because we did not want to compromise on flavor!
In this post, you can read about where I ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner in Florence during the day I spent there. Each restaurant, cafe, or bakery I chose to eat at because it offered a good deal on highly rated food.
So if you need to eat on a budget in Florence, this post may help you make sure you have some delicious Italian meals without breaking the bank.
Breakfast on a Budget in Florence
For a cheap breakfast in Florence, I headed to the Mercato Centrale, a massive market with lots of stalls selling a variety of foods, from fresh fruits and vegetables to prepared Italian cuisine.
Florence’s Mercato Centrale offers a many types of foods at a range of prices, the prepared food on the second floor tending to be more expensive. At certain times, the ground floor opens as a kiosk-style grocery market, with vendors selling various food products. That’s where I bought my cheap breakfast.
My travel companion and I picked up pastries at Pany da Lory Firenze, a bakery on the ground floor of the Mercato Centrale. For breakfast, I bought two muffins, which cost me a total of two euros. I think I’d be hard pressed to find a cheaper meal than that!
And the muffins were delicious. An excellent way to start the day.
Budget Lunch in Florence: Trattoria da Giorgio
For lunch, we ate at Trattoria da Giorgio, a lovely restaurant with a cozy dining area and tasty food. On the day we visited, the restaurant served a fifteen euro lunch menu that included three courses, water, and wine.
The meal was great, especially for the price. I left the restaurant feeling full and satisfied.
Cheap To-Go Dinner in Florence: SandwiChic
We had to grab dinner on our way out of Florence, since we had a train to catch. So we searched for something tasty and inexpensive to take to go.
We found SandwiChic to be the perfect option. It’s a small sandwich shop with cheap, but delicious and filling, options. It’s a great place for vegetarians as well as meat eaters to eat on a budget.
Note: During my travels, the sandwich shop closed at 6:00 PM.
Feeling hungry yet? I know I am.
I hope you enjoy eating your way through Florence as I did—on a budget of course!
