English Teaching Resources: The Plant Kingdom
Here you’ll find all sorts of English resources for teaching about the plant kingdom. The teaching resources below include English lessons on the basic types of plants, the parts of plants, plant nutrition, plant reproduction, and the importance of plants. With these resources, your students can learn English plant vocabulary through songs, educational videos, presentation-based lessons, and speaking activities.
I compiled these resources for teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) at a bilingual primary school in Spain. But I think these teaching resources would be useful for English as a second language (ESL) and English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) classes.
I particularly enjoy the videos and songs I found on YouTube for teaching about plants in English. The songs offer nice opportunities for students to practice speaking—or rather singing—English plant-related vocabulary aloud. Sometimes I find the most popular resources on children’s YouTube to be a bit unbearable to listen to, due to the high pitches and fast paces used. But for this lesson on plants, I think the songs and videos I found are especially pleasant to listen to. I hope you enjoy listening, and I hope your students enjoy singing along!

Roots, Stem, Leaves, Flower - A song with a catchy chorus and hand movements to teach students the parts of a plant in English.
The Needs of a Plant - A repeat-after-me-style song to teach students about the things plants need to survive, in English, of course.
