Natural Landscapes: Primary School English Lesson Plan
On this page, you’ll find the resources I’ve compiled for teaching about natural landscapes in English to first grade primary school students. I’ve also used the English songs, games, and other teaching resources I’ve found online, as well as some of my own ideas, to put together a complete English lesson plan on natural landscapes.
Teaching English in Spain as an auxiliar de conversación, I helped main classroom teachers explain concepts in English in academic and extracurricular courses. Technically, I prepared the English teaching materials in this post for a first grade social sciences class, but I think these resources could be used for natural sciences classes, too. I also think the English lesson plan might work for second grade primary school students.
These natural landscapes English teaching resources include songs, games, and videos that teach the following concepts: 1) English landscape vocabulary, 2) mountains vs. plains, and 3) how to care for the Earth.

English Word Repetition Videos
I find English word repetition videos to be very helpful for teaching students English spelling and pronunciation, as well as word recognition. I use these types of English teaching videos in my classes by instructing students to repeat the vocabulary words used in the videos. I also find that primary school students tend to get excited about watching videos in general, so these sorts of activities can be a special treat!
Kids Vocabulary - Geography - A video to teach students basic English vocabulary related to landscapes, land formations, and geography.
Landscapes (Learn Kids Learn) - Similar to the English vocabulary video linked about, this video will help students practice hearing and saying aloud English words related to natural landscapes.
English Songs:
We Care for the Earth - This English song teaches students good practices for caring for the English, such as recycling, turning off the lights, and turning off the tap.
